Number Porting

Porting BT, Energis, Virgin Media (Telewest/NTL/Eurobell) VoIP numbers and Directory Enquiries

It is now possible to port all BT and Virgin Media geographic area code telephone numbers. Non-geographic numbers beginning with 08 (e.g 0800, 0870, 0845) supplied by BT or Energis can also be ported. We regret that we cannot port Virgin Media non-geographic numbers beginning with 08.

We are also able to port numbers from some existing VoIP providers such as Sipgate and Vonage (providing you have their agreement to do so).

This takes up to 3 days to complete once permission is granted.

To port a BT, Virgin Media (Telewest/ NTL/Eurobell), VoIP or Energis number to Gradwell we require the following (please note that the downloadable form on this page is in MS Excel format).

NB: Any numbers with services attached/associated to them (e.g. fax, broadband, alarm systems, credit card machines) will be ceased when the number is ported over to Gradwell. If this is the case you must arrange to transfer these services to new number with BT or Virgin Media before attempting to port.

Porting Timescales

Below are details on processing time for different types of numbers to be ported. If there are any problems Gradwell will contact you to advise. We cannot port on weekends.

  • 1 single line request = Up to 10 working days from acceptance
  • Up to 10 single lines = Up to 20 working days from acceptance
  • PBX 10 lines or less = Up to 14 working days from acceptance
  • PBX 11 or more (or a centrex site) = Up to 22 working days from acceptance
  • Complex DDI = Up to 27 working days from acceptance
  • ISDN 10 lines or less = Up to 14 working days from acceptance
  • ISDN 11 lines or more = Up to 27 working days from acceptance

How much does it cost?

  • 1 single line request = £20
  • Up to 10 single lines = £100
  • PBX 10 lines or less = £100
  • PBX 11 or more (or a centrex site) = £200
  • Simple DDI Block of 10 = £100
  • Complex DDI Block of 11+ = £200
  • ISDN upto 10 lines = £100
  • ISDN 11+ lines = £200

Please note that any Resubmissions/Changes are charged at £20 + VAT. Classified as order rejected by BT due to incorrect information, Porting date change, cancellation.

If the number(s) is/are already listed please request that it is required to be continued and complete form below to be faxed with Porting Form.

If you want your Gradwell number to be listed on the BT directory enquiry service please print off and complete this form and fax to 01225 800801.

Please be aware that we are unable to process any requests with special requirements ie bold or superbold type, cross referencing, additional entries etc.

For this type of request, please contact BT on 0800 833400.

If you require your entry to be listed under the Business Type category on 118 500, you will also need to call BT on 0800 833400.

Please note that there will be an additional £10 charge per number for this facility.
